Shane joined the University of New England staff in December of 2016 as the Director of Student Conduct and currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Students and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

Shane’s career spans multiple functional areas within student affairs, including student conduct, housing and residence life, student engagement, new student orientation, academic advising, and assessment, among others. He is an expert on higher education public policy with a particular interest in affordability, access, violence prevention, and campus safety. His doctoral research focused on professional development for student affairs professionals.

He is a longtime volunteer with NASPA - Student Affairs Educators in Higher Education, holding many leadership positions at the state, regional, and national levels, and is the recipient of the 2020 NASPA Region I Outstanding Contribution to Higher Education Award.

Shane grew up in the town of Woodland in Aroostook County, on Maine’s far northeastern border with Canada, and was the first in his family to attend college.
